Merida's groundbreaking eScultura 400 has returned for 2022, to offer riders the perfect mix of e-bike technology and speed. With the efficiency and speed of the Scultura Road Bike with a hint of turbocharged assistance, you'll find hill climbs easy and tired legs a thing of the past! Built around Merida's award-winning Scultura frame, the eScultura features the sleek and lightweight MAHLE ebikemotion Rear Hub Motor and a 250Wh MAHLE X35+ battery that has been neatly integrated into the downtube. In fact, when you look at it, or even take it for a ride, you'll struggle to even believe that it's an electric bike! 
During the development of the eScultura, Merida demanded that weight be kept to an absolute minimum. This was to ensure seasoned road riders would truly appreciate the benefits of an electric bike - especially at times when tired legs and minds start to win the mental battle. As a result, Merida sought a partnership with MAHLE, knowing that their electric bike system was the only option that met and exceeded their expectations. Certainly, it's hard to fault MAHLE's ebikemotion X35+ system. With its minimal weight gain (3.5kg), sleek, minimalist design and intelligent software, it perfectly matches the design ethos of the eScultura. Riders are offered an injection of power and torque whenever they truly want it thanks to the neat iWOC switch located on the top tube. The location of the X35+ motor in the rear hub provides a natural riding experience so riders can maintain their cadence and form on the steepest mountain stages. While the B1-C 250Wh Battery provides up to 70km of turbocharged assistance! Once you reach 25km/h, the X35+ seamlessly cuts out to conserve battery life, knowing full well that you can easily keep spinning along.  
Alongside the impressive e-bike components, Merida has ensured riders are offered the perfect mix of performance and durability. As a result, the eScultura benefits from Shimano's legendary 105 Groupset, featuring a wide range 11-32T cassette, double chainring and Dual-Piston 105 Hydraulic Disc Brakes for outstanding braking power and performance. Not only does this set-up ensure you're efficient as possible on all gradients, but it'll also help you remain in control in even the worst weather conditions. Matching the theme of performance and durability, Merida selected 700 x 32c Maxxis Pursuer Tyres for excellent durability, low rolling resistance and all-weather traction.
